From all the people who were involved in the most recent Cycladic Press publication, we would like to announce the passing of Charles Howard, a painter, researcher and archiver of rebetiko music, whose final work we helped bring to life.
Charles worked on his English translation of Panos N. Tzelepis’s book “In The Time of the Sultans” for many years before it was finally published in July this year. According to his daughter Rachel “it was a dream he had for a long time to get Tzelepis’s wonderful book back out into this world.”
We express our gratitude to Charles for helping bring this important work of Greek literature and laography to a wider audience, and also pay our respects to his life, work and legacy.
